Mewbourne Oil Company has a limited number of internships available each summer for University-level students majoring in Petroleum Engineering, Geology or Energy/Land Management. Recruiting for available internships is normally done on-campus during the first six to eight weeks of the Fall semester and will be coordinated through the appropriate departments at the university.
Petroleum Engineering students who are in their freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year will be considered for internships. These internships are primarily field-related assignments in our district operations offices located in Perryton, Texas, Woodward, Oklahoma and Hobbs, New Mexico. There will be opportunities to work with drilling, completion and production personnel in engineering related assignments as well as providing relief for lease operators throughout the summer. Internships in reservoir engineering would be accomplished at one of our Exploration offices or our Tyler, Texas corporate office.
Geology students who are in their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies or who are in their graduate studies will be considered for internships. Geology internships would include work assignments in wellsite geology and assisting geologists with exploration work in the Anadarko Basin of Western Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas Panhandle or in the Permian Basin of Southeastern New Mexico/West Texas. The internship would be at one of our district exploration offices located in Midland or Amarillo, Texas or Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Students majoring in Energy Management or Petroleum Land Management who are in their sophomore, junior or senior year will be considered for land management internships at our district exploration offices. Interns will work closely with experienced Land professionals and will gain valuable work experience that includes checking land records, determining land ownerships, contract review and other pertinent land skills.
Individual assignments in internships are developed based upon prior internships/work experiences in industry-related positions and the remaining semesters before completing university studies.
